(RPH) today announced Siobhan Harrington, CEO of University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust (UHD), opened a newly refurbished private suite at Dorset Heart Clinic, a joint venture between UHD and RPH located at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital.

Dorset Heart Clinic (DHC) is a private patient unit that has been operating for six years since first opening its doors in 2017. DHC is a limited liability partnership between RPH and UHD designed to provide a world-class standard of service to private patients. Located alongside the UHD cardiac department with access to the most advanced medical equipment, highly trained specialist staff and critical care resources of the NHS, ensures private patients can safely access the most complex of treatments. This sets it apart from all other private hospitals.
DHC is the region’s largest and most well-known cardiac centre with nearly twenty consultant cardiologists working within its facilities. DHC has treated over 10,000 patients and consistently has positive feedback scores of 99%. DHC has exceeded all of its original business targets and generates over one million pounds of profits each year. These profits are passed to UHD allowing it to re-invest monies to support frontline NHS services, new equipment and staff training.
UHD and RPH are currently in active discussions on ways to extend this successful partnership further in the coming years.
